Inspiration

Moorlands form vast and rugged landscapes. They are a combination of, heather and rolling hills that stretch for miles, offering breathtaking views and a sense of untamed beauty.

The moors are known for their wild and unpredictable weather, with strong winds, mist, and frequent rain showers. These conditions contribute to the unique ecosystem found in this area. The moors are home to a variety of wildlife, including birds such as grouse, curlews, and lapwings, as well as mammals like sheep, deer, and hares.

One of the most famous features of the Yorkshire Moors is the Bronte Country. This is the setting for the classic novel "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and it's easy to see why the iconic tale was inspired by this atmospheric and haunting landscape.

At Ilkley London we take all of this untamed beauty and translate it into prints used on nightwear and textiles. Our prints therefore have an edge; they avoid twee sweetness and instead attempt to capture the moors' essence.
